The endless knot (Sanskrit: *Shrivatsa*; Tibetan: *palbeu*) is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism. It is a closed, interwoven pattern of lines that loops around itself with no clear beginning or end.
It appears in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain traditions, and across cultures from Tibet to Mongolia to Celtic Britain — wherever humans have been fascinated by the idea of infinity and interconnection.
Interdependence. The knot's lines weave in and out of each other, showing how all things are connected. Everything you do affects everything else.
Infinite wisdom. With no beginning and no end, the knot represents the limitless nature of wisdom and compassion.
Eternal bond. In many cultures, the endless knot is a symbol of enduring love and friendship — a bond that cannot be untied.
Luck and protection. In Tibetan and Mongolian traditions, the endless knot is a protective symbol, believed to bring good fortune and ward off harm.
When woven into cord or carved into silver, the endless knot becomes a wearable blessing.
In Mongolian tradition, mothers tie endless knot cords for their children before they travel — a physical manifestation of the blessing "may all things connect to bring you home safely."
In Tibetan jewelry, the knot is often paired with turquoise for a double layer of protection and connection.
There is a beautiful detail in how endless knot cords are traditionally worn: the knot is never fully closed. It has a small opening — a gap — because a blessing must stay alive. It must be able to breathe, to grow, to travel, and one day, intact, to return on the wind.
This is why our knot bracelets and phone charms always have that slight looseness. It's not a flaw — it's the point.
